Nioh 3 Splitstaff Fire Build Guide
Complete Nioh 3 Splitstaff Fire Build guide with optimal stat allocation, equipment choices, skill selections, and combat tips for medium difficulty hybrid gameplay.
Splitstaff Fire Build Overview
The Splitstaff Fire Build is built around one simple truth: Splitstaff in High Stance has the widest attack arc of any weapon in Nioh 3. Each swing hits in a 270-degree cone, striking every enemy within range. By infusing these sweeps with Fire element, every hit contributes to Scorched status on all targets simultaneously.
The core combo is High Stance strong attack → Dragon Dance (Splitstaff skill) → Ki Pulse Flux to Mid. Dragon Dance extends the combo into a spinning multi-hit attack that covers a full 360 degrees around you. In crowded rooms, this combo applies Scorched to 4-5 enemies in a single string.
Scorched enemies take increased Fire damage and have reduced defense. Combined with Fire Familiar (Onmyo Magic) for passive Fire application between your attacks, enemies reach full Scorched status very quickly. The Splitstaff's reach keeps you at a safe distance while the AoE clears groups efficiently.
This build is particularly strong in missions with dense enemy packs and crucible areas where enemies group together. It is weaker in boss fights against single targets compared to focused DPS builds, but the Fire DoT and consistent Scorched uptime still make it viable.
Stat Distribution
* Target stats at level 150. Adjust based on your current progress.
Strength at 30 and Magic at 30 provide the dual scaling this build needs — Strength for Splitstaff base damage and Magic for Fire element potency and Onmyo capacity. Courage at 30 ensures strong Ki recovery since High Stance attacks consume significant Ki. Constitution at 25 gives survivability for melee range. Heart and Stamina at 20 provide adequate Ki pool and equip load respectively.
Equipment
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Primary Weapon | Splitstaff |
| Secondary Weapon | Tonfa |
| Armor Set | Grace of Kagutsuchi |
| Guardian Spirit | Ho-oh |
Grace of Kagutsuchi boosts Fire damage and Fire accumulation, directly amplifying the build's core mechanic. Ho-oh guardian spirit adds Fire damage and provides a ranged burst counter for safe punishes. Tonfa as secondary provides a defensive option with guard-point attacks for aggressive bosses where Splitstaff's slow recovery frames are a liability. Equip Fire Damage bonus on accessories.

Playstyle Tips
- 1.High Stance strong attack → Dragon Dance is your bread-and-butter AoE combo. It hits everything around you in a full circle
- 2.Fire Talisman + Fire Familiar + Splitstaff Fire inherent = triple Fire stacking. Enemies reach Scorched status in 2-3 hits
- 3.In crucible areas with grouped enemies, one Dragon Dance combo can Scorch and kill 3-4 enemies simultaneously
- 4.Switch to Mid Stance for boss fights. Splitstaff Mid Stance has a more controlled moveset with better dodge cancels
- 5.Shin Crusher in High Stance is your single-target burst option. Use it during boss stagger windows
- 6.Ho-oh burst counter fires a ranged projectile. Use it against charging enemies instead of trying to dodge at close range
- 7.This build excels at Amrita farming — Extraction Talisman + multi-target kills generates massive Amrita per encounter
