Nioh 3 Rifle Guide鉄砲

High projectile damage with slow reload mechanics. Best for dealing massive damage to single targets from safety.

Overview

The Rifle is the highest-damage ranged weapon in Nioh 3, delivering devastating single shots that deal more damage per hit than any Bow arrow or Hand Cannon explosive. It trades the Bow's stealth and the Hand Cannon's area damage for raw single-target destruction — a single shot to a boss weak point can deal more damage than several melee combo strings. The Rifle scales with Heart, sharing its primary stat with the Bow, which means you can freely switch between these ranged weapons without needing different stat investments. In Nioh 3, this weapon excels in boss encounters where you need to break specific weak points like horns, crystals, or armored plates from range. Its main weakness is the slow reload — after each shot, you are briefly vulnerable while reloading, requiring safe positioning and timing.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Highest single-shot damage — the Rifle hits harder per shot than any ranged weapon
  • Excellent for breaking boss weak points with precise Rifle shots from safety
  • Heart scaling means Rifle investment also benefits Bow and Ki recovery
  • Single Rifle shots can stagger enemies, interrupting dangerous attack animations

Weaknesses

  • Slow reload — the Rifle leaves you vulnerable between shots
  • Loud Rifle shots alert all nearby enemies, preventing stealth approaches
  • Limited ammo compared to Bow — Rifle bullets are rarer and more expensive
  • One-shot-at-a-time Rifle gameplay requires patience and positioning

Key Characteristics

  • Highest single-shot ranged damage in Nioh 3
  • Slow reload speed between shots requiring safe positioning
  • Loud shots alert nearby enemies — not suitable for stealth
  • Best for breaking boss weak points and dealing burst ranged damage

Moveset Guide

Time your Rifle shots for maximum impact — aim for boss weak points during their recovery animations when they're stationary for easy headshots

The stagger potential is massive — a well-placed shot can interrupt enemy attack animations, creating openings for melee follow-ups

Reload behind cover or after dodging to safety — never reload while exposed to enemy attacks

Explosive ammunition deals area damage similar to Hand Cannon — craft explosive rounds for group encounters

Use the Rifle to open combat encounters — a single headshot removes one enemy instantly before melee combat begins

Combat Techniques

Combine Rifle opening shots with melee weapon follow-ups — shoot first, then immediately switch to melee for combo pressure while it reloads

This weapon benefits from damage buffs more than any other due to its high base — use Ninjutsu Power Pill before shots for devastating burst damage

Position on high ground for sniping — elevation gives better angles and enemies cannot easily retaliate against elevated shooters

In co-op, the Rifle user should focus on breaking boss weak points while melee players maintain aggro — this support role maximizes team damage

Stat Priority: Invest primarily in Heart for maximum damage. Skill as your secondary stat provides additional scaling benefit. Tertiary Intellect offers diminishing returns but complements certain builds.
